Today I took time out to see a movie all by myself. And, I was truly....all by my own self...not another soul in the cinema...instead, there were other cinemas full of families with kids seeing The Simpsons Movie. It was nice.
The movie I chose to see was "In the Land of Women". It starred the ever lovely Meg Ryan, the good looking Adam Brody(Carter Webb), Kristen Stewart, Makenzie Vega and Olympia Dukakis. Adam plays the role of a guy who is a writer of soft porn (no less!) and he is dumped by his model girlfriend who he thinks is the love of his life. He moves on to another town to take care of his elderly grandmother who is a delightful character full of witt and humorous sarcasm. She keeps saying she is going to die... she is teaching him a life lessons without him realising it at the time (so true of some of us in real life).
Without going on about it anymore and spoiling a great movie, Meg Ryan plays the neighbour across the road from Carter's grandmother...her own journey accompanied by Carter's own life journey makes for a great movie...not a slow one, and not too over the top either. Be warned that tissues are a must for parts of it.
After the flick I went on to watch two of my brood swim. They went exceptionally well and the swim instructor just adores Sarah..as does one of the new teachers at the school. Her comment to me, "Your little girl is such a delight, she has this aura about her that makes people smile". Proud mother hen am I!

Hey I'm first :)

Sounds like a good movie.. I'll write it down.. we don't go and see many (rural, small cinema) but it'll be out on dvd or the satellite and I'll see it then. Never know what to choose reading the titles.

Meg Ryan was always one of my favorites! She's such an angel face, even if she is older.

Heard she's a little crazy, but then again, I'm a poet, so I shouldn't talk!

Talk to you later, Cazzie!!!

I like Meg Ryan, but I think she did some real damage to her looks thanks to all that plastic surgery.

Sounds like a good movie. I like Olynpia Dukakis. And, I like going to the movies alone, strangely enough. But, now that I have discovered Netflix, I don't go to the cinema.

Hmm, dunno about Meg Ryan. In real life she often comes across as a bit wackawacka.
But the film sounds interesting - must admit.

Farmwifetwo, I know, there are so many movies and I spoke to the 2 lady attendandts at the centre and told them I came to see the Sandra Bullock flick last week and I did not like it, "Coz it did my head in!" and so they said I would like this one...and so I did!

Eric, nutty is okay.... I think she is lovely :)

Corky, I wasn't sure if she had any or not and now I am sure...takin' your advice and all. I love her and Goldie Horn too, they are gorgeous :)

QOD, lol, it was good...you should try it :) I have always been good in my own company..or by my own self..and to do this took me away from all that was on the outside of that theatre.

Jay, for sure!

Betty, I never hear of netfix before..will check it out.

Ann, welcome to my place then :) Come by any time.

I'll check it out!

Going to the movies alone is one of my very favorite things to do. And I'm lucky that my work schedule is pretty flexible, so sometimes I sneak out in the middle of the day. It feels as though I'm playing hookey, and I love it!!

she's adorable! A beautiful, simple, kind and gentle soul. It reflects on her very pretty face. And she CAN act too.

Sounds interesting...I haven't even heard of this one yet (like that's saying anything!)

It's always nice when someone gives your baby a great compliment like that.

I am happy going to the movies by myself...although Don and I loved going to the old Laurieton pictures... my daughters say they have never gone to the movies by themselves... Don't know why...its a really good experience...but never been inside all by myself....wow...just like Elvis - your own provate picture show.
