The kids, it is fair to say, have a full social calender. Me, I jusy have my 20 year High School Reunion on the calender..oh, and 14 years Anniversary this 23rd Sept ... 14 years of being wed to my lovely husband (kissy kissy smooch).
Last night the kids had their school discotecha.. disco. Each child had a different time slot to attend. So I opted to help with the tuck shop so I could stay all night and not be mum's taxi back and forth four times each way. Nick helped me serve the kids until it was his turn to go dance. Then Mia stoo next to me saying"Excuse me, what would you like?" all the while she was applying her little kids' make up to her eyes without a mirror. She looked like a offsider to Mel Gibson in Braveheart in the end. Which made me laugh madly.
Today I helped with the reading at school and a special guest came in. A Grandad of one of the kids in Mia's class is a police officer, and he came to speak his role as a copper. Just as I had done previously in Nick's class about being a nurse. It was great to see the kids interact. Funny to hear some of the questions and stories the kids had to share too.
It was no surprise that some of the kids thought that 911 was our emergency number..thanks to the amount of American telly the kids must watch.... we all know our emergency number IS 000 right?
One child lagged on his dad because, "Well, you know, my dad, when he drives along and he has no seat belt on, well, when he sees the police helicopter he puts it on really quickly". We all laughed so much, I am sure his father would be proud to hear that he shared that bit of vital information with all of us.
Yesterday, Tomas came second in the 1oo metre race against other schools of the region. I am yet again a proud mother hen :)

OOO?
That would get you 3 different operaters over here...:P
The lack of knowledge about 000 is a worry.
Galen, lol, I know.
Andrew, it`sure is.
A lot of the American shows have a disclaimer type of thing on the screen saying that our emergency number is triple zero.
I remember when my kids watched Blues Clues they would call a tap a "fawcett".Emily still says "ossome" for "awesome".

Mom, you know, when I read your comment I thought about it and I thought, "You know what, you ARE right!"
Donn, yes the number is ooo and I think if we dd call 911 it is diverted to the emergency line anyway. Don't quote me on it though, I won't be trying it just now, lol.
I do have afew mates from High School about me still and we felt weird walking into the High School to get our tickets..just like it was yesterday we sat our exams. Next month I get to go there for a day with Tomas as he is going to attend the same High School as I did. Very cool, 20years down the track and he gets to go there for his first year!
Oh you have such a lovely life :)
