Hard Rubbish.

It is Hard Rubbish dump-out-the-front time in our area. It irks me when people dump things on the nature strip in front of their place and don't secure it when the weather is windy. All sorts of garbage is then strewn across the road causing problems with traffic. Worse, is the amount of "bower birds" stopping without indicating in the centre of the road. They are looking for items to grab. There is always the same guy that drives around with a ute and a trailor ready to pick up any white goods that are put out. I am guessing he restores them and sells them. That'd be ok if he knocked on doors first to ask if he could take them. Anyway...
Today it rained (yayy!) and the boys' cross country run was cancelled. They were disappointed. My friend and I rode along the river. There was no one but us and our bikes and some ducks on the river. It was a peaceful day in the end.

Tell that bloke with the ute and trailer I have a washing machine out the back he can have!

It actually still works, we were trying to figure out what to do with it, guess it will end up at tip. I wonder if our council here does clean up days? Must check.

Bike ride sounds nice.

Cazzie, Aussie culture to hunt through hard rubbish collections. But they should leave it all tidy.

Foxy, sell it in the local rag or something..someone will need a working machine I bet!

Andrew, leaving it in the tidy bundles that are required is exactly what I meant :)

I guess that guy is saving the council some money by taking stuff away :) hehe

I love looking through other's rubbish...my girls get so embarrassed..but you have no idea how much of my early home was furnished from Vinnies and the garbage dump recycling shop...still got most of it because it was old and solid...

I know what you mean... it'd be nice if they at least asked first? Oh well...

A nice quiet peaceful day down by the river sounds deliciously delightful! The huge rainstorms here totally missed us - yet again!

Stace, I think he is doing that actually, saving them money from having to dispose of the stuff. Yes, the rain smells so good!

Therese, I heart Vinnies, and Freecycle and even Ebay for some of my items. Antique shops were great too when they were more affordable. I do not doubt you got some great items from those sales!

Mal, If I could play music like you do I would think I were so blessed and I would just chill and play by my own self regular like :)

Dodging blowing trash cans after they've been emptied is sometimes a very challenging game here.

It's the ultimate recycling. I have heaps of second hand stuff in my house. We have a great Vinnies here. This will sound awful but we have a large population of elderly people here, and a lot of unwanted estate stuff gets donated to Vinnies. I treasure and take care of every piece that looks like it has been well loved in the past. I have tapestries in frames that I got so cheap, and lots and lots of pottery.
