Today's Walk..

Today we walked between 7 and 8 kilometres in total. Now, I am one to have said to people I speak to in the past that Werribee is flat as a tack, or, "Gee, you are so lucky to live in a nice hilly area, because we don't have many hills here in Werribee at all!" (GONG SOUNDS HERE)..Well, I am sooo wrong!
We walked through the main street, no hills there, around the High School, Past an old Nursing Home I used to work at years ago, down past the old Werribee Pool, which has been renovated this past Summer, and past the Bowling Club....down the river track and along the railway line. We got to cross over the river at one point, where the water is so low that is exposed some old stepping stones. We stepped over the stones and looked down into the little bit of running water.
We had to step up a bloody great hill to get to the next walking track..ahhhh, I thought I might die...persist I did and now I feel great!
There were some lovely smells along the way, roses in the gardens, freshly cut grass, dog doo..ahh, no, not nice, but I was just checking you are reading this! Spiders spun their webs and they were flying through the crisp air, right into us! Little wispy things, not sure what spiders spin these flying webb's on such nice sunny days...anyone know?
Anyway, I will take my camera next time we walk..tomorrow..we ride!

Sounds like a gorgeous walk, on a beautiful sunny autumnal day as well. Love the mental image of the spiders ballooning past you in the gentle wispy breeze too.

We've got some good hills around here that sure lets your calves know they are there. Walking around Mt Panorama is a beauty.

You see so much more of your town when you walk through it, don't you think?

One of the nice things abut walking is that you get to notice so many things that you just miss when you are driving.

Good job. But take care yorself.
After I walked long, I can't do anything. Especially I can't cook dinner for kids...

Walking is wonderful, but those flying spiders would totally freak me out! Can't stand those things and I understand your little continent has a whole whack of different ones that are big AND poisonous.....

I walk lots too, for my health as well, and take my dog with me (and, yes, I scoop her poop!) but where I live there really are NOT any hills - Winnipeg is as flat as a tabletop. Never know how far we go - I just go by time and usually do an hour a day in one walk and perhaps one or two shorter walks (the dog needs to get out, see).

Now that I am walking somewhat normal again, it's time to start walking up hills. We have a gazillion of them in my neighborhood. Definitely a cardio workout...whew!

Its funny how things change Caz... many years ago my mum was highly amused by many of the people in joggers walking past her place in the early mornings - all togged up - it was in the days when people wore matching shoes trackkie dakkies and sweatbands - tee hee- and she said, "Why do they dress like that they are just going for a walk?" She did that same walk daily to visit people or go shopping as she never learned to drive and no buses so it was shanks' pony for her with a shopping trolley...

But then those people walking so fast past her place then had to get off to work in jobs where maybe they didn't get fresh air etc - so they were trying to feel and be healthy...

Mum's world even with us five kids moved more slowly... there always seemed to be plenty of time just to talk and walk...as you are doing - but why what you are doing with your kids is so wonderful ius that you have to make the conscious decision to spend this time doing this - in between work etc and all the other calls on your time...

That is a very long walk. You have brought back some old memories for me as I spent most of my childhood playing on the stretch down-river of the pool. I bet it looks very different now!
