Go For Your Life...

Today in our Herald Sun Newspaper there was a lift out magazine that contained something I was really excited about. As a family we do alot of physical activity, from walking, riding, scooter-ing and skipping to and from school....to swimming, bush walking and flying fox riding at the park.

There is a Victorian Government Initiative Campaign to get all families on the move, and healthier and fitter and well, the Newspaper is helping spread the word with this little Lift out and a guide to things you can do in a 30 day period to get the kids and mums and dads up and moving. I know we already do a fair bit of these activities but I plan on filling out our own 30 day challenge of activity and see how we fare.

It does remind me of a campaign from the 1970's called "Life. Be In It". The above 30 second clip reflects some of what that campaign was about. It sure sticks in your head when you grew up with those ads on telly.

I sort of feel like a cheat because I know we will be really active over this coming holidays.... as you will read later on, we are going to Halls Gap again for our vacation..and I cannot wait! Bike riding, rock climbing and bush walking amongst many things we can do.

So, anyone wanting to increase their daily activity out there? GO FOR YOUR LIFE!!!

Family activities are a great idea. Get everybody out of the house and doing things that are fun together makes everybody happier.

We did a lot more when the kids were little. Now my exercise is 4 times a week to the pool and shopping. Shopping must count as exercise.

I'd LOVE to just stay home and be a couch potato once in a while!

Have fun with your very active month.

I remember "Life - Be In It"!! I need more physical activity... because cleaning a house that hasn't been cleaned in two years top to bottom isn't enough for me! HA! :)

Captain Corky, haha, ya reckon :)

sheri, yes, that happened with our first campaign and now this one has come along. Same old problems hey :)

Jay, It sure does.

Mom, Yes, of course, incidental exercise we call it at work. I count work as exercise because, when I can, I walk the longer path to the pan room :-P... or take the stairs to the floor I am on..unless it is a hot day and I am on the 9th floor.

A slice, of course, it is great to catch up on Oprah's new look LOL. I know what you mean.

Stace, oh noes, lol. Been there done that. I hope it doesn't take you too long.

You shouldn't feel as if you are cheating just because you have an activity-filled vacation coming up. That is not cheating at all! If anything is cheating, it's saying you're going to get on this activity kick and then take a lazy vacation where all you do is sit and read or watch TV or something! Good job on being active. That is commendable for sure, especially for a mom - moms usually feel so run ragged by their children that the idea of being "active" is just too much, so you are ahead of the game on that one!

Does getting you’re kids to go down the shops for a pack of Winni Blues and a six pack a Carlton Draught count as an activity. Hang on I don’t have kids. Who are those little people that bring me ciggies and beer?

Hehe, if I could work and downhill MTB at the same time I would Cazzie!!!

I remember those TV ads with Norm, I dunno what their conversion rate was but in terms of imprinting it would have to be one of the most successful marketing campaigns in Aus history. God now I've got that tune stuck in my head! Thanks cazzie for BREAKING MY BRAIN!!!! LOL

Oh, BTW... new temporary house is here:
