Amazing Dolphin...

I just came across this rare find while reading a few articles. It is purely amazing that this Pink or Albino Dolphin has survived. It was sited in Calcasieu Lake in Louisiana by charter fishing boat Captain Erik Rue. See the article HERE.

We always get excited when we see the dolphins riding the waves created by the Queenscliffe to Sorrento Ferry, but a PINK dolphin, WOW.
Of course, pink being Mia's favourite colour, she wants one of these dolphins NOW, hahaha.

that is so cool! I wonder if the dolphin has poor eyesight as is common among albino people? How does it keep it's skin from being exposed to the sunlight? Oh, now I am worried about the little guy!Don't you know that someone will capture it now!

Way cool.

Thanks for pointing this out. I'll have to make sure my daughter "the future marine biologist" (unless she changes her mind) sees this. :)

Wow! I never even dreamed of a pink dolphin. the dolphins we see along the Atlantic coast are all gray - so far. I'll start looking for a pink one.

I grew up, as i have said before on the coast between Mornington and Portsea, diving with dolphins, watching them play in the bow waves of the rescue boats. Amazing graceful creatures.

I have never seen a pink dolphin, would be a sight to behold.

I loved your history of the grampians, i read it but didnt have time to comment, I have hiked pretty much all of the Grampians, camped out there, treked over Mt Rosea, through the Jaws of Death (now the balconies), suffered the insane kangaroos in Zumpsteins (you can no longer camp there BECAUSE THE ROOS DAMAGE TENTS AND ARE getting too friendly with people) sorry about the caps.

it is an amazing part of the world....

Poody, I know it, I was worried too. I might even look it up and see what the Marine people are saying. Like we know, albino animals usually don't have a long life expectancy, and the thing is, this lovely dolphin has been lucky to last to his adolesence I believe.

Crabby, why thankya maam...curtsy to ya!

Susan, I bet she will be so wrapped to see it too. Ohhh, I would love to do something Marine... fishes are my favourite thing!!

Jillie, I concur, I would love to smear the sunscreen on the little fella. Mother Nature, amazing.

Farmwifetwo, hahaha, I would have more chance of getting the golden egg laying goose from Charlie and The Chocolate Factory..or an Oompa Loompa, haha.

Mom, ohh please do, and make sure you got your camera with you in the car :)

Aidan, I am so glad you did enjoy the post and I bet you can appreciate that because the Grampians has so much to talk about, it would be fair to say I could not have written about every single thing.
It is wonderful you have travelled or rather, hiked, around most of it. What an amazing place.
Re the dolphin, It would so be a sight to beholed wouldn't it?

I've seen plenty of 'Pink Elephants' but never a Dolphin.

Poor thing will be way more susceptible to predation from sharks or orcas since light coloured objects in the ocean symbolise death and decay.
I was so hooked on Dolphins before I studied them to death and naturally ended up defantisizing the mystique about them.

I wish that still viewed them as a parrallel species living in some utopian ocean world that is far too complicated for us landlubber apes to comprehend. Damnit anyway.

Dolphins are great. When we go to Florida I love to sit and watch them play in the surf.

Even though I know that the dolphin very well could be a male, I am thinking that it is a girl. (Pink you know)

That is an amazing sight to see, Caz. I've never even seen a picture of an albino dolphin, let alone heard of one. That's amazing.

No wonder the little ones want one! I want one too!

Surfercam, sure is aazing.

Andrew, me thinks we will have to put in an outdoor pool for it, haha.

Keshi, it sure is :)

Menchie, I guess we got 50% chance of being right or wrong, LOL.

Irene, me too. My little girl has a blanket with them on it on her bed.

Homo Esc, you never fail to intrigue me you know. I love it when you make such fine observations. Indeed the poor dolphin is at risk, even by such things as us humans :(
