Avalon Airshow..a sneak peak

Today hubby and I spent the day at Avalon Airfield for a sneak peak at what is to come on Sunday when we take the tribe there to have a family day out. I was wrapped, men in uniform, aeroplanes, great displays set up, eating Nando's for lunch..NO KIDS screaming, lol.

F111 afterburn, we could feel the heat from beside the tarmac, and feel the rumble too. Wishing that I was the pilot here!!!
FA 18 Super Hornet, Australia is purchasing 20 of these noisy bumble bees to add to our armoury. The pilot was ever cheeky, as the crowd waved he lifted and dropped his elevators and aelorons in recognition.

Me and my new buddy Mr N. He did a showcase for a Elbit. The system shown is the DOMINATOR (tm), a systems integrated infantry combat system. The system handles logisitcs for combat operations. It was the best display I have ever seen at any airshow. It included drop down screens and real life demonstrations on the reconaisance capabilities of their equipment. Outstanding stuff. If only I had that for back in the day of my Air Cadets bivouacs, night reconaissance, stalk the lantern activities..then I would have been able to nail the other team before they reached the lantern.
Yes, this guy was a regular Army Wiggle kids, ever the entertainer :) This is an outstanding long range cargo hauler that Australia is buying 4 of to add to our inventory of Aircraft in the RAAF. The c17 Boeing Globemaster. It was smooth flying, super. You couldn't hear it upon it's approach, so it is good for low level reconnaisance also.

And, as an afterthought...I added in this picture..NO NO NO, it is not from the air show, butt(no punn intended) wouldn't it be grand girls, LOL..

I love airshows.

Nothing as cool as some good old American Military aircraft huh?

The USAF retired the F-111 here. I have no idea why. It's an awesome attack aircraft.

All I remember from that post is something about men in uniforms, and then hot naked butts.

Did I miss anything?

Chickybabe, me too, the heat from the f111 was unreal!!!

Gman, lol, that was just for fun that pic, just to throw people off. TY for the compliment :)

Graffiti. I used to be in the Air Cadets when I was 14 yrs old until age of 18. We went every Friday night of the year. On school holidays we had camps, out bush and on a RAAF Base. We learnt drill, aircraft recognition, survival camp, I got to Sargeant. We also did work experience camps too. Best bit, I got to fly and do weapons training :)

Jay Man, yes, I love the F111 too, but it was superseeded by more fierce attack fighter aircrafts, like anything, when something better comes along, they go for it. The F111 was replaced by the F15E Eagle, it had effectively more precision in its medium range precision strike capabilities than the F111. Also, the F111 failed to be the plane that they intended it to be, the Naval flight interceptor that is. Still, I get my rocks off on this baby everytime I see it at a show :)

Jillie, Nando's is hot spicy chicken breast, and you can have it with salad or their french fries, I had the salad, cery nice it was.

DC, lol, that's me, Im am just a sneak, surprise!!! LOL

MC, I dunno lovey, but wouldn't it be great?

Rene', I have left comment for you on your blog. I love the Airshow pictures you take, they are wonderful. I also added the link to my photoshop here for you to see the other pictures we took. I will be going to Avalon tomorrow again. I will take more pics and load them to my photobucket.

Phil, oh yeah, love the old dog fights :)

Keshi, would you believe I felt soo tired there, but exhilarated at the same time too.

Menchie, what car wash, lol, you make me laugh :)

M, yes, you can buy Airshow tickets there, or buy before hand and you don;t have to line up. On the Friday night I usually take the kids to the Shell Servo on the freeway near Avalon and watch the night time exhibition there. Then we buy tickets for the Sunday or Saturday to get in. This year, we will get in for next to nothing because hubby helped set up for it, 10 to 12 hour shifts at a time. We can't wait to go see it.
Oh, there are always people with their campervans along that back road to Little River/Lara, watching the show with picnic baskets too.

Miss N, yes, there are plenty of guys there in uniform, all lovely to talk too, no Rambos there, LOL. The different flight suits and Army Greens are awesome to look at, and nice tight touches too :)

LOL Whitesnake, I will get a pic of a chick in Uniform, for your eyes only ok :). A woman navigated the F111, I will try to get one of her.

Stormin Mormon, no worries, I am a nurse, I can give you a shot to treat that sick feeling, lol. I will take a shot of a girl for you too, one for you and one for whitesnake, OKIES!!!

What time are you going? I want to know what time Joe Public clutter up the freeway as we have to travel it Sunday.

Cazzie!!! said...

Hey Andrew, go fuggin early matey, lol. Show begins around 10am I think, and it gets busy early. They do have designated lanes to drive in as you get closer to the turn off. The right hand lane, the fast lane, is the one for Geelong bound traffic. Sit in the left lanes, and you will be there for ages, it is only for airshow traffic.

We have an air show at Marquette Park on Lake Michigan in Gary every year in July. I hope Willi and I can make it this year. It doesn't look quite as magnificient as yours, but I have heard good things about it.

Our daughter lives in at the top of a 9 storey block of untis looking out over Albert Park in melbourne and so got a birdie eye view of the Grand Prix (pricks ha ha)... there was a helicopter and jet palne demo but what took her breath away was a ginormous army tank being trundled past her place into the grounds...she thought it was just for novelty but a friend of ours from the foces said it was a recruiting device and always turned up whereever rev heads gatherred for race car meets...hmm
