Australia Day Today...

Just uploaded this picture and it is now just after 7pm Australia Day. Our kids played the whole afternoon with their friend Lachlan as us adults sat there and BBQ'd and had drinks and some nibblies to eat. A very layed back fun day celebrated by us all. Yes, that picture is taken at the back of our yard at our new abode :) Will upload more pictures tomorrow, tracking back to NYE with the kids sliding down the banks of the Yarra...now that we are almost settled in here.

Can I celebrate FOR YOU in the USA?

I'm envious. Our 7pm is cold and very dark. Is Australia Day a yearly celebration? Don't mean to sound so dumb but I've never heard of it.

That'd be cool, you could celebrate there for us if you like :)

Ginnie, we have what is termed Daylight Davings here in Summer, so hence, it is lighter than it would be say in Winter...in Winter, it'd be cold and dark then :)
Yes, Australia Day is a yearly event, a public holiday too. Read the short link below to see what it is all about :)

Ironic how the Northerners know nothing of our day huh? I just read a blog where the guy was bemused at celebrations for Australia Day in the UK and the hamburgers had beetroot, pineapple and egg on them. Poor bugga's!

We are the same as all cultures - anything for a holiday!

Glad your move has finished!

TY to everyone who commented. Yes, Australia Day was great for us here, very nice weather.
LAntern, the bus is coming over from the other place in the next week or so, lined with wood and all. Will blog more "Christine"-like pics of it arriving at the new abode.
Welcome to all new commenters, make sure you return soon :)
Lucy, your English is very good, keep up the work girl:)

To Melly:
Yes I did not know that such a day existed, but assumed so. Every nation has its holidays and celebrations. I asked b/c I wanted to know the special features of your celebrations. Like when we have our August 20, we also celebrate the new bread. I had things like this in my mind when I asked.
