The good old days..

Here's a pic of me when I was 16, yes, those were the days my friend, We thought they'd never end, We'd sing and dance forever and a day, We'd live the life we choose, We'd fight and never lose, For we were young and sure to have our way.La la la la...Those were the days, oh yes those were the days.....
Excuse me for breaking into song there, hope it didn't make you all feel too sad.
This was a Weapons Training camp I was on over the mid year school hollidays. I was the first of 2 females that were allowed to conduct the Weapons Training Course. It was hard yakka, we had to pass the competency of safety before the second last day of camp before we were even allowed to shoot blanks from the rifle at hand. That Rifle being the 7.62mm Self Loading Rifle..to even nick name your rifle as "Gun"(as I did!) was not the done thing...50 push ups later and I just knew I had to change my line of thinking!
The officer in charge of us was a Vietnam Vet, not too happy realy to have any females on his camp, so he made us work harder than the guys. In the end we all seemed to get along so well that he let me have a shot at his 9mm hand pistol, I have to say it had quite a little kick in it, and I was way off target in the shooting with it. I didn't do too badly at the 7.62 target shoot. It may have something to do with my growing up out in the sticks and having a go at target practice along side my dad. He had a couple of shottys and gave my brother and I our own Air Rifles once he was happy we were competent saftey wise and all.
I will post a pic of me having a taxi of my friends' dads' aircraft another day, I did an oil on canvas painting of it after the event, it was enjoyable and I wouldn't mind going and obtaining my pilots licence one day..when I win the big one from George Tattersalls that is!

TILT COCK LOCK LOOK!

The SLR was a great rifle, deadly in the right hands.

Wicked smile btw.

Why ty Lantern, you just made me smile :) and you refreshed my memory on the tilt cock lock look and more.....like the time we were supposed to be practicing taking apart and re assembling trh weapon at hand...I was madly pashing with this hot guy in the guy's billot laundry, leaning against a washing machine that WAS IN USE AT THE TIME!!! Indeed, tilt cock lock look was on my mind, LOL.

Hi Cazzie,
Looks like a mob of "Shoot First, Ask Questions Later." kind of guys. Now I know how, you know how, to control your household.

Sorry but that isn't the Australian SLR in your photo. It has the wrong stock, pistol grip, barrel and magazine...It is probably the FN Fabrique or similar.
PS: I was a drill instructor and would definatley remember the good looking weapon in your pic rather than the heavy old timber stocked weapon you refer to.
