Since I was a wee wittle girl I was dragged up through footy here in Melbourne. First my mum barracked for Geelong, then she ,moved on to Carlton. We used to travel down to Geelong from the early hours of Saturday morning prior to a game to set up the change rooms for the players and the day was just packed with heaps of stuff to do. I remember standing there for the first time holding the banner as the players rabn through it. It was real exciting, even though the guy next to me also holding the pole for the run through was standing on my foot!!! I was yelling,"Get off my foot!"..but to no avail, he couldn't hear me because of the crazy fans screaming out and the Geelong Theme Song blaring out.
Well, for the past few weeks I have been watching The Footy Show of a Thursday night. I havent been keeping up with the AFL for a few years and I am slowly getting back into it. NOw there are two footy shows on, the first is the AFL and the second is the Rugby footy show.
I have to say, and I hate to admit it..I love the Rugby show better. Is that a crime?
The people on the panel are much funnier and arent trying to toot their own horns like the blokes on the AFL show. Take Sam as an example..yes Sam Newman..loves himself, works for him but it turns people off too. He is just plain rediculous half the time. I do have to say though, I agree with him last night when he said the problem with today's players is that they hold the ball too long, run with it and never kick it down toward their goal. If they disposed of the ball earlier itd give their team mates time to be there and be ready to mark the ball and the go for goal. Instead, they run with it, everyone knows where they are going, so the defence run down there alongside the players' own team mate and then there is a pack of people just waiting for the delivery. Early disposal, not running with the ball, = not as many people there so then less risk of disposing the ball to the other team.
Anyhow, thats enough from me. I think I need to get briefed on the rules of Rugby now...and this question I have needs answering...why do the Rugby guys love grabbing each other on the butt?
Cheers Cazzie!!!

Atleast the AFL Footy Show hasn't got Eddie McGuire on it anymore.

As for what you call Rugby it is really called Rugby League to save confusion with Rugby Union.

Well I go for Hawthorne (got it from my Father). I am longing for the 80's again if you know what I mean.

My grandpa is Tigers man.

As for the Rugby League I go for North Queensland Cowboys.
