INSOMNIACS...

Last night we went out to a 40th Birthday in the suburb of Ascot Vale in Melbourne. The place was great. The service was warm and friendly, and good company came to celebrate our friend Koulla's 40th. Her friend was the DJ and he played 70's and 80's music, and a small portion of the night, towards the end, was Greek music. I danced almost all of the night, it was great.
Apparently, they get some pretty good gigs in there, mostly home grown musos... and Sunday's after 3pm is Jazz Time.... too good!!!
Getting home just after midnight, Mia has come down with the croup...an awful virus it is. It is the first time she has ever had it, I am hoping it will not last as long as it has when her brother used to get it. Anyhow, I leave you all with a couple of pictures of the bar we went to, and I am off to work the afternoon. Catch up on all the great comments on the last post tomorrow, which is our Monday here.

Rosemary, yes, exactly my sentiments there, when we drove down the road looking for the venue, it stuck out like the preverbial dog's balls...a bright pink neon sign saying Insomniacs..and very pink and red and cosy inside. LOL

Hi Cazzie,
I've never heard of older kids getting croup for the first time. I had it as a kid, and my youngest had it from basically baby stage. I guess you learn something new everyday.

MC, yes, "I think you better knock knock knock on wood"..aahhh, loved dancing to this with my mum...all those songs..awesome!!
LOL at don's fav quote (winks).

Rebecca, I know, they were surprised to see Sarah in there at the Sunshine Hospital a few years back, age 3 with 1st onset of croup. Tom was 18mths, hospitalised twice with it. Nicholas has had it off and on since age 18months too. Mia, it is her first time and it scared her for sure.
Blame their dad for it, LOL, he had it as a kid, last attack age 12.
I guess going to the germ factory twice a week hasn't helped her..kids love to spread viruses.
Most of the children who have croup are under five years old. Because they are small, their airway is narrow; when infection causes swelling of its lining, it becomes even narrower causing difficulty when the child is breathing in. Unlike asthma where the noise is heard upon expiration.
Let's hope it doesn't last all week :(

I hope your daughter gets well. Illness in any familly member is a downer. My grandmother had a heart attack a few nights ago, and I've been an insomniac worrying about her, since she raised me as much as my mom did.

Glad to have nice reading supplied by nice people about their wonderful land. Thanks Cazzie!!!

eric, huggs to your nanna, I am assuming she is in the great hands of my colleagues in the World. Let her know how much you love her too, she would love that I reckon.

Lantern, other half and I have been so busy working when the other is not, and he has been doing some double shifts too, so no bus news, only that I have found a great group of people who do bu rennos and we all have different makes of bus, yet want similr things in them. So we kind of bounce ideas of of each other that way.

Farmwifwteo, thx :)

Flatcokeandflies, yep, I love dancing, need to do it more often, great exercise too.

Queenie, thaks for the well wishes..oh, it was not my birthday, it was a friends. I am not 40 for another 5 years..then, I am having a massive party with a band!!
