Halls Gap Easter Break..

Sarah standing in front of the most awesome rock formation. To look at it through some binoculars, you can see caves up there. Lots of rocks with bright orange tones, and pink and grey too. The guys wanted to climb up there, there had to be a way because there were spots cleared, small ones, to the side of Goat track. Hikers come to this area to climb and walk...so we searched for a path. The maps we had in our hands did not show any tracks. But we found some.

This is the size of the cave that the boys climbed up in to, right up the top of that rock formation Sarah was pictured in front of. It was huge! Aboriginals surely used this cave for shelter back in the day. It seemed a sacred place to the boys. They were so excited and appreciative to have made such a discovery. So lucky to be there!

My big boy turned 13 while we were away. He had the most awesome seven days away.... none of us wanted to return.

There is the view behind Tom, the magical view from a sacred cave! Behind Tom you can see the T intersection where the image of Sarah was taken. The boys did climb up quite far. From our contour map, we estimate between 650 and 750 metres above sea level.
Our camp faces what you see right there at Halls Gap in The Grampians. Waking up to such beauty..lovely!

Victoria Range Track, 4WD access only. Such serenity, lots of lovely flowers and trees only native to this area..and loads of thick lush moss on masive rock formations....views to die for. Not for the faint of heart either!

  1. oh good onyas. Halls Gap is lovely. Did you swing by Zumstein and push your way through the crowd of kangaroos lolling about all over the place? packed with tourists from all points of the globe, it's a funny experience to be way out west with The United Nations falling about over kangas.
Try Halls again in Spring when they have the wildflower show - it is amazing.
