I worked a few nights on the Cardiothoracics Unit. I loved these people, the patients and the nurses alike. Working with such awesome nurses makes a big difference in the time spent together..time flew by that is for sure. The hard thing about working nights is when you get home and flop into bed and then you try to sleep, only to continue hearing monitors bleeping in your head. The cardiac monitors sing out, the patient buzzers sing out, the IMED pumps for the Intravenous therapy sing out and the PCA's(syringe driver pump for pain killers) sing out.
Thank goodness it is Friday :)
All that crap must so Techno Pop that you think it's 1979 all over again!
ReplyDeleteOf course you are too young for that...:P
You are not alone. I hear work noises while I am trying to sleep too.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, I can remember jerking myself awake one night cos I could swear I heard a monitor pinging lol.
ReplyDeletehappy friday...worked nights myself so i know that feeling....
ReplyDeleteYou are an awesome nurse, wish I had you here the past two days. Zak was so sick and in so much pain it was getting me down. He is on the mend but still not the best. xoxox
ReplyDeleteI used to love working the night shift. the hospital was quieter and less rushed, even with all the monitors. The hours were terrible though and hard for my family.
ReplyDeleteIts like flashbacks hey
