Lots-a-goin-awn!

So, we had an awesome Christmas Day with lovely friends and family. Hubby had to work the afternoon shift again so I took the children up to my Aunt's where we stayed the night. Lots of kids to play with, my cousin's six babies, my other cousin's little man, my other cousin is pregnant due in January and well, the family just keeps a growing :)
We drove home on Boxing Day and then, as a family, we went away to The Grampians and camped in the bush. Luckily for us the Grampians had a great deal of rain a few weeks ago and it was so nice and lush green. Not to mention the stream just behind where we were camping was flowing nice and clear with little fishes in it. The kids got to swim and play and move some river rocks about and have a great time.
My friend of 23 years met up with us at The Grampians. Her hubby and two children loved the camping area we were in. The kids all had such a ball and we just relaxed. What a great time. We met some other people who were camping too and they were friendly. My friend's hubby made some damper in our cast iron pot. Yummo!
The stars were so bright and there were umpteen satellites and shooting stars/comets. The smell of the bush was gorgeous, what can I say? You just have to go there people. If you do not like camping then why not hire a cabin at Halls Gap or Venus Baths or something? It is worth the trip. There are lovely winderies, art galleries, the Aboriginal Cultural Centre and more.
Back to work to fund the next trip and the next trip and school books and uniforms and shoes for a son who is taller than me and has feet in men's sizes! haha

Cabin sounds like a good idea but camping must be good fun for the kids.

While we were shoveling snow you were camping and enjoying the night sky. There are many ways to enjoy a lovely Christmas.

Used to love camping but I think I might try the cabin idea if I get up that way ;)

Andrew, we sure do love the camping. I love sitting by the fire and we all just talk and hang out until we get tired of that and then go to bed to sleep...waking up with the kookaburras :)

Mom, isn't it amazing what a contrast we have across the World?

Jayne, the cabins are great too. A friend of mine stays in one each time she goes there. They have free use of bikes for adults and for kids when you rent out a cabin. They are self sufficient ones, you know, with a kitchen and a fridge etc etc... and that suits her to a T :)

Therese, you ought to do that, and see if your girls could come along too. Sitting around a camp fire with a little wine is great!
