Re the Phoenix..

I guess families who work for the transport system here in Victoria (rail and tram ways) will be a little worried right now as to their future prospects. Just like the phoenix they will have to rise from the ashes...let us hope it is not tough for them and that they have support where needed. Some people would be more fortunate than others I guess.
Those not fom Victoria might read between the lines HERE.

You are right that it's not so great for the current employees; but it's been clear for a long time that something about the rail system has needed to change - and since Connex (and apparently Yarra Trams) couldn't deliver, hopefully somebody else can. I would imagine that the new company should be happy to re-hire an experienced rail worker, so hopefully a lot of the old employees should be able to retain their positions.

Mal, yeah too right, too often.

Andrew, wow, really? If someone is made redundant let's hope it is after an anniversary in September...and not our wedding anniversary!

Stace, let us hope it is correct, or I shall be picking up more shifts than I might like to at work soon enough.

Hope no one is made redundant over this change as there's not likely to be much difference in the service we receive.
