A lick of rain..

This morning I woke up to the sound of rain. A foreign sound to all of us in Melbourne, contrary to the old popular belief, that we are the city of dreary rainy weather.
By 11am the wind cropped up and was hitting over 80km/hr... now it is gusting to 100 in some areas. It is garbage day here in our area which posed as a problem. I went out and wheeled our bin in as the first truck came around. Looked to the right, wheeled in our neighbour's bin..and then shut the lids of the recycling bins.
I then went out back and put the trampoline on its mat side. I was worried it might end up in someone else's yard!
Keeping a watch on the fires..especially the one at Musk Vale up near Dayelsford. There is also one at Redesdale... change of wind and the fires may go my Aunt's way. Of course there are flying embers too, which can travel sky high and a few kilometres away, so they pose as a major hazard.
The kids look tired after school today, cool, then warm, then windy and hot.. yukk, it tires the best of us.
Today I had some good news,I get to go to the Melbourne Museum with Sarah's class next week. I cannot wait. I haven't been for so long. I will take pictures of what we see to share with you all of course!

Cazzie, I only heard snippets of news tonight, but it looks like bad things could be in store re the fire fronts. God will it never end? There is little or no news on the commercial stations about how the people affected by the "Black Saturday" fires are coping. It has
been very, to slightly, smokey here for a few days, and there are no fires nearby so it must be still the Victorian smoke wafting up which is just heartbreaking.
We didn't get any rain, in spite of it being forecast, as of now, almost 8pm.

Heard of one woman holding down a trampoline with her phone in her hand and asking emergency services what she should do. Too little too late I think.

Foxy, we got more rain! I danced around like it was Christmas, and got REALLY WET! Haha.
I have been watching th DSE and CFA websites all day long so as to alert hubby if he needed to go up to my Aunt's. Thank goodness he has not needed to.

Andrew, I heard that too! Silly eh! I made sure our trampiline was secure, aswell as my washing on the line..and our garbage bins too. I am guessing that lady did not heed the warnings of gale force winds! Pffft..I wonder if that sms from Vic Pol hit home with everyone..obviously not her!

You guys sure could use a good soaking rain.
One time the wind blew our canoe from it's spot by our shed up onto the roof of our house.

Yay rain! Thank goodness Cazzie. Remember the days when we didn't want to get caught in the rain?

PS I want the video of you dancing around in the rain!
