On the way to work today it was hot and windy and dusty and yuk! During my tea break at work I watched the NEWS. I got to see footage of a fire that the fire brigade had under control in Carrum Downs. I believe the NEWS reported that a house had been burned? You could see people trying to protect their houses with water hoses. They also showed the water bomb helicopter doing its job. It was 40 degrees celcius at 2pm they said.
Then, as I waited at a set of traffic lights in by car on the way home I witnessed something unbelievable. A guy in a convertible car was smoking and he threw the cigarette into the grassy medium strip, I could see the red point on the stub still alight. he took off at seed in the opposite direction to me. I could not report him for the offence, but I sure would have. What if he does it somewhere else? What if it causes a fire that causes a family to loose their house? Or worse..their life?
You just cannot help DUMB!

That is just terrible - I am a smoker and we have been educated forever and ever on how to never ever allow a burning butt to go anywhere..... wow...
You can't fix stupid...
Too bad you couldn't rush out and throw the still-lit butt back into his car...?!?
Some people are born stoopid, some achieve stoopidity, whilst others have stoopidity thrust upon them... [giggles]
There IS a cure for stoopid... it's called "The Darwin Awards"! hahahaaa.

I watched my very gentle mother erupt once on a drive in the country I was taking ..my younger sister tossed her fag out the window...Mum went off her brain...She knew from being a farmer's daughter...and ghere were her town raised kids tossing smokes out the window.
Melly, yeah, hubby was the same when he smoked, never ever tossed one out.
FC&F, that's for sure!
Mal, lol, I love that site :)
Therese, I can only imagine your mum going off!
There is, at least, a littering reporting hotline you could report him to. The wonderful thing is, if he's charged with littering it works backwards from most other Australian court processes: He would have to prove he DIDN'T do it, as opposed to you proving that he did. I don't have the phone number on hand, but I'm sure it's on lots of signs by the roads in Victoria :)
