Andre Rieu Concert

(The amazing Vienna Castle took 5 days and 250 people to set up)

Yes, I did go to the Andre Rieu concert here in Melbourne last night( friday Night) and it was the most stunning concert I have ever been to. I have been to see The Bolshoi Ballet, The Australian Ballet, The Rolling Stones, Madonna, The Rocky Horror Show, AC/DC, INXS, The Sound of Music, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra... The Hyde Street Band (Don't laugh you local people!) and many more I cannot recall right now...these were all live shows, all so amazing, I just love LIVE!!!
( There were two fountains and two ice rinks and a ball room.)

Yet, This set up, this show, the music, the crowd, everything was spectacular. Just when you thought the encore had all but finished, out of nowhere came at least 100 Bag Pipe players.... amazing!! Not all fo the music was classical. Alot of people got up to waltz the night away... so lovely!
It was a hot windy humid night, and it turned into a down pour with lightening and thunder when I left the Arena. Oh what a night :)

Thanks Cazzie. I wasn't getting the whole Rieu thing, but it is not just some classical music, it is a show.

It looks like you had a great time. Andre Rieu puts on the best concert out there. The JSO always performs so well, above and beyond.
Stop by www.AndreRieuFans.com and say hello to all the other fans.
Kind Regards, Sally

Andrew, yes, it sure is a show. Sounds weird but I did assimilate Andre to John Farnham... a showman, making jokes throughout the show and yet being serious about their music too.
Alot of what Andre spoke of was his love for music, especially Strauss...and he honoured each of the composers that the Orchestra played.
To each side of the castle set up was an ice rink..when they played a tribute to the song from the Titanic "My heart will go on..", a pair of ice skaters came out on either side and did a lovely routine. An Australian girl sang the lyrics, she was marvellous.
In my head I keep hearing Bolero, the composition Torville and Dean skated to when they struck gold at the Olympics. It was lovely :)

Sally, thanks for that.

Mom, it is well worth it, and people young and really really old loved the show... I am talking in their late 80's!

Karisma, this makes me want to catch more live shows... yet I do not think many shows will match this one.

Oh I forgot to say, the gorgeous wardrobe and scenery reminded me instantly of my painting of "An Elegant Soiree" by the master himself Victor Gilbert, the one I have in my lounge room.,.,remember?
The image of my painting is in my blog link below...sorry, I do not know how to hyperlink in comments section.

Live music is the best way to enjoy it, as the ancients did. They just picked up things, made some articulate noise, chanted and danced until they saw visions.

A lot like today, except the drugs aren't as good as they were back then! lol

Talk to you later! And thank you for the visit! I'll try not to let you all down anymore by poofing into thin air...

OH my!! I'm jealous! I had a chance to see him here in Boston a couple of years ago and ended up having to work. Thankfully my hubby was able to take his mom on a date...it was a wonderful memory for them both.

I'm glad you got to see him and really enjoy the show. I'm sure the DVDs just don't do it justice compared to the spectacle of the live performance!
