Lest We Forget...

They shall not grow old,

As those that are left grow old,

Age shall not weary them,

Nor the years condemn,

Let the going down of the sun,

And in the morning,

We shall remember them!

I just made a little bugle with my hand and played "the last post" through pursed lips. It wasn't meant to be cheesy. I just don't have a bugle. Well, not a very good one...

Anyway... amen to that.

she practices he speech
as he opens the door
she roll over...
she lies and says she's in love with him
can't find a better man...
she dreams in color, she dreams in red

Hi Cazzie, I want to thank you for you sweet and supportive remarks. I may accept your offer to just talk. I cannot get to your e-mail add. I do seem to need a willing ear right now and not about my Dad. That is, if you are up for being the "shrink on call". My life took a major downward fall last night and I don't think I can blog it. Nobody wants to hear depressing stuff. If you aren't up for it that's cool too. Thanks, debi

LEST WE FORGET

We must never forget that they made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms that we enjoy and take for granted. Lest we forget, indeed.

A few years ago, I was entering the grocery store and some veterans were there collecting donations. I stopped to let my two boys (who were about 7 and 4 at the time) put some money in the bucket.
My oldest asked me about them and I said that they had fought in a war to protect our country. Chase said "What's a war?" One of the elderly men heard us talking and said, "I hope he never has to find out."
I still tear up when I think of that story today.

LEST WE FORGET
On Anzac Day I was sitting in a train behind two Vietnam war veterans. The carriage was full of people in suits, most with their or their father's medals. A Norwegian lady hopped on board and asked the veterans what was going on. They replied:

This is our day where we remember those who have died and have a drink at the pub with our friends.

I thought that was nice, simple and beautiful.

Cheers,
A Andrew from Melbourne.
