We moved outta the other place a few weeks ago...and might I add, just in time to miss these suckers from swarming outta the skirting boards in one of the children's rooms. I kid you not!!! Since we moved to that house 2.5 years ago it had been nothing but troublesome. Thung is, it is a friend's place, and they moved to another country so we moved in when they left.
When you visit friends you don't look at their place and see that it is dirty...do you? Well, I never noticed it, until the day they said it was READY to move into. Not counting the garbage bag surprise they left in the centre of the floating floorboard dining area....that when I picked it up it oozed out watermelon juice and a thousand and a trillion brown flesh biting ants!!! The walls were filthy, so we painted it. The second bathroom had paint peeling offthe roof...correction, HAS it peeling off the roof. The tiles about to fall off in the shower..cockroaches in the garden, ants in every room, cats peeing and pooing outside every window of the house...on and on I could go. Thing is, the owner knew about it all along, everything, escepting the new invasion of termites. He never told us about the other stuff, but you know he knew about it all when you looked up on the laundry shelf and see ant rid, mice killer, rat killer and so on. Oh yeah, I forgot about the mice eating through the plaster in our main bedroom cupboard!!!
Then, I always seemed to get sick in that place, even though we cleaned it, got a bug guy out, painted the walls and tried to make it a HOME. Hell, I almost died when we lived there!!!
This place here makes me feel at home. It is clean and tidy and the street is lovely and quiet too. Things are looking up. I feel healthier and fitter and we are riding our treddy peddly's about the place.
Cannot wait to get the bus here. Photos will of course ensue :)

We once moved into a rent house of a lady who had the whole "Clean-liness is next to God-liness" attitude. She never had a hair out of place, her car was spotless, etc. We moved into dust, mouse poopies and a very nasty smell in one bedroom. I too had been in the house before and never noticed the grime until we moved in, all of her nick-naks covered the crud!
Isn't it funny how some people keep their house... everyone different!! I myself am a little bit of clean freak.. no point putting clothes into a messy warerobe sort - of - person.. where are my mother in law is more.. what you can't see doesn't hurt... tidy but not that clean underneath!!
Thanks for popping past my blog and glad my little potty mouth doesn't offend!
You must've been absolutely horrified when you moved in. At least it sounds horrific! Made me shudder and I'm distinctly not a "clean freak".
I love a clean house. It's hard with the two dogs, but I do my best. At least we have not found any termites or ants in the rental place here. Although there was a spider in the shower the other am when I climbed in. EWWW!
Mrs Coach, ewww, that IS bad isn't it?
Yummy Mummy, I will be calling by regular at your blog, and you have a gr8 way with words...potty mouth what? LOL
Peppypilot girl, I was physically sick when we moved in, I cried when I put my baby in her cot onto newly washed sheets, and she woke up crying and when I turned on the light she was covered in them damned ants!!
Flat coke, lol, a spider in the shower OMGH, my baby girl would love that..she loves creepy crawlies...not like me at all, LOL.
Your youngest would love my place at the moment, it is infected with spiders!
Umm, that last comment was left by me. I should change the login before posting.
Cassie, I'm so glad you are into your new place. You have a great yard! You are very patient with what you endured in your old place. And the episode you talked about when you almost died! That must have been horrible for family! I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with your bus. I think you have paid your dues for some really good times ahead. Have a great day! ~Sam/Gollywobbles
Yuck I hate rent house for this very reason. I have ot have the exterminator out every year to make sure the termites are at bay. Here in Texas you either have termites or you don't know you have them is what the bug guy told me! My friend Jana lived in a rent house where they swarmed so bad she had to shut the room they were in down. NASTY!!
how very simiialr to my experience with my move! Even Im much happier and healthier in my new home.
Good on ya Caz!
Keshi.
Glad you are happy with your new home... the amount of poison used to kill things can be sometimes worse than the vermin...but if its cockroaches, mice rats etc you have do so something... you are goig to have a great life there with your little family..You really were terribly siock that time last year... are you fully recovered?
