The Fete This Past Saturday....

Mia on the elephant ride.

Mia holding a snake. Just as I snapped this pic, a young boy ran through the room squeeling with his hands up in the air and scared all the kids and the reptiles alike. So the guy presently began packing up his reptilian familee to head on home. The boy got kicked out of the room. His grandmother scolded him all the way home I imagine!

Sarah patting the snake that then went on to kiss her..it must have tasted the sweet fairy floss that she had just finished consuming before we went into the Reptile Room.
There were also a few Blue Tongue Lizzards and a small Salt Water Croc..he had been dropped by a kid previously so the guy was hesitant to let anyone else hold it. Too bad, Mia just loves crocodiles.

Isn't it a bugga when someone else spoils things for everyone?

Mind you - I know how the grandma of the squealing kid felt.... sigh..

Looks like you had heaps of fun. Wonderful!

Here in Manitoba we have the world's largest collection of harmless garter snakes. I have visited the famous snake pits in Narcisse many times with my kids...it is soo cool.

Australia is of course famous for having so many deadly reptiles and other uber dangerous critters...
if you watch the discovery channel you would wonder how anybody is still alive downunda...box jellies, funnel web spiders, salties, tger pans, great whites, blue ring octies....yikes!

Of course when it is put into perspective it is as fanciful as the notion that we Canadians live in igloos surrounded by wolves, and murderous grizzly and polar bears.

I always like to tease the herpetologists that they will get herpes from handling reptiles...what a geek eh?

Your Mia looks so much like my niece Laney I had to look at the picture for a good minute to make sure it wasn't her! How she'd have been in Australia holding a snake I'm not sure but I still had to look!

Keshi, you never know, she is always playing with bugs and the like, and she loves spiders, but her fav are crocs!

True Melly, and I have been there before also. But, I now know that at the age my kids are now, I can ask them if they want to see such things and if they are scared not to go in. Can't say my kids are angels, we'd be kidding ourselves if we said so.

TC, thanks, it was fun and the weather was great too.

HC, thanks for visiting, yep, you are right about the perceptions of others upon their homeland. I had a Korean pen friend as a child and he thought we had kangaroos in our backyard and koalas in the trees and Aboriginal Tribes as neighbours. Of course, my Aunt does have kangaroos in her yard (25acres of it) LOL, but we are in suburbia here. We do have the odd Tiger Snake here and there.

MRS COACH, so unreal! I have many doubles of me floating around too, in the nursing profession aswell!! I always have people say, I know you..and they swear to it too :) Laney ,must be a cutey, love her name!

PMSL Steph, I didn't hold em, but I know I was acared of em, my girls weren't though.
