Today was a cool-ish day here in Melbourne. When I went for my bike ride it was nice at first. The Sun shone warm and radiant..then the clouds covered the Sun's rays and a chilly wind blew. I wear nice warm clothes, but my knees were cool as ice. Hehe.
The jeans I bought a few weeks ago are becoming loose on me. I have to invest in a belt, yayyy..these work outs are paying off.
I am looking forward to nice warm Spring days in a few months time. I may even feel good wearing some nice 3/4 length pants. It has taken me some time to accept to just "Be". My kids and their friends are commenting on how I look great..and I do think alot of it is not just how I look, but how happy I am.
I find that even at work, working night shift, I have alot more energy. I am focused, which is good for my patients as they need someone who is in tune with their care.
I am going to be speaking about nursing and the role nurses have in the community in Nicholas' class in a few weeks time. I did do this for Tomas' class when he was in year 1. I enjoyed it, and I was hopeful that I might have planted a seed in some of their heads to become a health care worker. I also stated that we need alot of other allied health workers too at the end of my talk. I may do it again this time :)
I think it is important, however, for someone to do what it is that makes them happy, and know that it is ok. It is also ok to change your mind if the first thing you had your mind set on did not work out as planned. I know some people began nursing with me and went off to do something completely different half way through our course.
Well, this weekend is set to be a busy one. Tom has a party to go to, Nick plans on going to the park, which means the girls and I will go to. He has packed a picnic for us already! We will be playing basketball, skipping the rope and gliding on the flying fox..ohh yeah!

Wyperfeld National Park, Victorian Outback Adventure!!!
We have had the most wonderful trip with our children. They have learned, and we have learned so much about our wonderful country. We have seen things that many have not. Which makes This blog and the Internet a marvellous medium to which we can share our outback adventure, and teach others about our gorgeous country.
We took our four children in our Nissan Pathfinder, with our little old caravan in tow, for a four and a half hour drive. We always have rest stops, stretching the legs, the obligatory loo stop and refuel our tummies too. Whenever we stop, we talk to people, to travellers and locals alike. We learn about the area we stop at, there is history all the way along the trek.. the Sunraysia Highway, The Calder Highway too. Some of the towns we go through are not much more than a pub, or a Wheat Silo, literally!
I have loaded plenty of pictures and named as many of them as I can onto a photobucket link HERE. Please just have a flick through them if you will. I plan on doing a Friday's History post (about time eh!) about Wyperfeld National Park. It is the most marvellous place, and we have been fortunate to experience the first rain in many many years in the drought affected area. What a splendid place it would be to see all the lakes full again!

Days off..
So good those three night shifts are over. It is difficult to sleep when it is school holliday time. As you know, when I work nights I must sleep during the day. I don't mind it when the kids are at school, the house is silent. Hey, I know they can't help being kinds, and having fun on their days off right.
Hubby took them with him to fix he caravan up for our holliday and also do some work on the Pathfinder. We are putting a lift kit in it. AKA: springs..the vehicle will have more clearanc, so we won't get bogged, lol.
I will check back later on and add to this post. :)

Time at home..
It has been a busy 5 days with the kids. The first day was a big clean up day in every room..it did not last long, LOL..but at least it is dust free, under the beds, couches, chairs etc. We have done a bit of shopping, seen a live Care Bears Show at the local shopping centre (joy joy happy happy joy!) and had umpteen other people's kids here. Now I have my cousins'eldest son here for a few days. He is a good kid, and my children love him like he is one of our own. Mia began riding a larger bike today. She mastered the use of the brakes well..thank the gummy mary! Oh, and this bike has a bell on it that works..too well LOL. I cooked a webber roast leg of lamb with lots of yummy veggies, both roast and steamed veggies. The kids and hubby just had some Dairy Bell vanilla ice cream with some caramel topping that hardens up with the cold ice cream. A treat that they have polished off. And, Bondi...he is happy as a pig in muck with the bone from the lamb :)

Eva Mendes

I do not know much about this model, or her gorgeous guy model in this picture, but what I do know is she is NOT too skinny as the TV is crapping on about this morning. She looks lovely and toned and natural. I wish they would think about what they say before they say it out there. The repercussions on young guys and girls to try and "fit in". Stoopid them..whoever they are.
It starts with healthy eating, eating something naughty and special to you every now and then and some exercise at least three times a week or more if you prefer. And..exercise how you want to.. even if it is gardening, walking the dog or riding a bike or going to the gym.
At work the other night I had a patient say to me that I was a "big girl". It hurt, because she does not know me, she does not know my life or my history and the fact that I am fitter now than I was even two years ago..or one year ago. Indeed, I am fitter than someone who is thinner yet who does not exercise. What to say? I know I am happy..some people just cannot handle a jolly soul like me I guess.

Banks..
Not everything we do on the kids' school holidays involves spending money...but it helps..you know, with fuel costs and yeah food! Well, my work put my pay through yesterday but the bank has held onto it..some crap to do with the end of financial year yesterday, yadda yadda. It is not through yet and it is 9:20am. I had plans people!
Also, the bank let go of the money for the insurance, as it is supposed to..but that was yesterday..so that means they will try slog me with a fee of $35. Well, it is not my work's fault, and not my fault, so they can reverse it STAT!
That is all!
********************************************************
Plans for these holidays: Go to the park, have a picnic, go for a drive, end up where we end up and have fun... one money spender is the Aquarium, so I don't mind, they will learn from it there, and a 4wd trip to Wyperfeld National Park which is The Outback )
