Glorious!

Today was such a lovely day, we rode further down the river than ever before. We even went off the beaten track there for a bit. Sitting out catching some sun eating our lunch then off for another short ride after lunch today.
There was even plenty of water cascading over the weir wall today. I have got to remember my camera next time it is so nice a day!

When thing really could be worse..

Ok, ok, so, here in Victoria there are problems with the train network right? Overcrowding of carriages, trains not running to time...well, look at the image above..of course it is not here Down Under, but it is food for thought. I guess things could be worse right?
Thanks to everyone's well wishes last post, we are all feeling much better now. Essential Oils and peppermint tea or lemons freshly squeezed helped immensely. Throughout I have maintained my bike riding schedule as close as possible to "normal". Clothes are beginning to loosen up, soon I have got to go shopping!! Yayyy!

Sniffles..

I have a new best friend now, it is Peppermint tea with a little honey in it. Sip it slowly, and sip it all day, it seems to be the best thing for this cold/virus my children have shared with me.
The other thing that helped was this blend of oils a lady from LeReve made up for me and for my Sarah for our chests and feet to be pampered with. A cold and flu blend of oils which smell Divine, once your nose clears of the congestion that is. Sarah's dry cough also dissipated with the application of the oils.
I'll be around checking blogs this week, and hopefully the course of this lurgy will be outrun by the weeks ending.

Books I am reading...

"MY PLACE". It is an Australian Classic Novel written by Sally Morgan about her own emotional and spiritual journey to find her Grandmother's roots and heritage, only to uncover much much more than that. It is such a moving book, a true story which is close to my heart. Someday I hope to go on that very same pilgrimage to find my Grandmother's story too, which is not that dissimilar to Sally Morgan's Grandmother's story. It makes you laugh in places and it also makes you sob your heart out, well, for me, it did! A hard book to put down once you begin reading it.

"Lady of the Camellias" By Alexander Dumas.
This is a book I sought after for a long time. I read it when I was 14 or so an only half read it then, it was a lend on a Winter School Holliday time.. I had to return it. I love it, I love the period to which it is set, I love the description of the clothing and scenery and the French culture surrounding The Lady of the Camellias. The men sound so scrumptious and the women so naughty and yet lovely at the same time. I believe this has been a play and also a movie, has anyone seen either of these?

Questions..

"Mum, what does the o in o'clock mean?" ...well, I was not actually completely sure, so thanks to wikipedia, I have the answer.. It is the shortened form of "of the clock", that is, "according to the clock".
So there you go, that and many more questions to come I am sure, and I am also sure this is a tame question compared to those that will come from growing children!

Why just the other day, while I was driving, Nick asked a question about something that was said on the news. It was pertaining to the sexual assault of a woman. It was difficult to think of the most correct answer while I was maneuvering through a tough intersection at 5pm, yet I think I answered it appropriately and truthfully.

No Ducks Today

At Least They Won't Be Sued if Something Goes Wrong...

I think it was too cold even for the ducks to come out and play today. We went for our ride, we took a different route today, peddled back the other way down the river- side. My....that really hard hill we get up each time we ride, was seeminlgy effortless today. I can see now just how steep the hill is, measured by the fact that I did not have to peddle once for at least a good 400 metres or so. My bike whizzed down that "grade" as we have named it now.

The weather was not sure what it wanted to do today... one minute we sprinkled with rain (no complaints as our reservoir is still so very low in the state of Victoria) and then it was blustery with icy wind. Brrrrrr!!!

Bring on Spring!!

Where have I been??

The dreaded flu has hit our little family. Tom had 2 days off of school last week and Mia had a day off as well. Lots of squeezed lemons and honey here!
I took the chance to do some pre-Spring cleaning around the house while I had to stay at home with the kids and their sharing of the flu bug. Curtains washed and looking lovely, dusting along the skirting boards and window sills, it feels good to have done it all.
On my bike ride along the river last week I got to see some lovely ducks, they actually had come up out of the water an all the way up to the riding track, not their usual behaviour. I have been taking the track since May this year, perhaps they were looking for some food. I might take them some bread this week, and take my camera to show you how cute they are.

Mamma Mia!!

I took the girls to see Mamma Mia this evening, and we totally loved it! The whole show was such fun, and it lookedf like everyone involved had a blast making the film. I am a die hard fan of Abba music, and so, I sang along..of course :)

Mia loved her song being sang in the flick too.

I plan to see it again :)
