People getting pissed...

Ok let me first explain to people not in Australia, that the word "pissed" here Down Under means drunk, not angry..although, I have been known to say it and mean that I am angry..so I guess you can use the word any way you like.
So, this penguin is a pretty lame attempt at humour, he is being used as a prop, as an example of what NOT to do on any given day, especially on a day I am working. If you want to be on my good side, that is, on nurse Cazzie's good side, you will not become so intoxicated that you end up like little penguin here. Although, I have to say, he is rather tame compared to humans.
You see, when you are so drunk that you pass out and your friends all leave you on the side walk and it is Winter time you will sure be left there until either a) the police see you lying there b) some really good citizen calls the ambulance or c)you piss yourself and vomit everywhere and just die ..right there...coz your friends left you there.
When you do come to hospital, your clothes will surely be cut off of you. Why? It is because you cannot move by yourself, and so the easiest way to get you out of your clothes is to cut them off. Too bad if it is your favourite dress or suit... bye bye clothes forever.
You will then get an intravenous line placed inside one of your arms, or maybe your foot if your veins are shit. Then IV fluids will be pumped into your body. A medicine will also be put through the drip for you to stop vomiting all over the place, all over my shoes and uniform....thankyou!
When you regain consciousness you will probably get aggressive... just beware, you are dicing with the person who just sobered you up and that is not a good thing. Being tossed out on the street in a hospital gown, remember, those clothes of yours have been spewed on and placed inside a plastic bag now. Your bum will be on display for all to see and well, I guess if you did wear your best undies for going out, just like Grandma used to say "Always wear your best undies every day because you never know when you will end up in hospital", then you will be fine, unless you pissed them! (pissed in this case means urinated)
Oh, and one more thing, don't try to chat up the nurses in your inhebriated state, it doesn't wash with us, it is a big turn off!
This has been a people getting pissed public service announcement......

Cotton, Keayes and Morris..

( songs are "Living in a child's dream" and then "Will I?")

I was so wrapped to go to the concert these guys played last Friday night. Dude with the hat is Russel Morris (Of the band Hush), to his left is Jim Keayes(Master and Apprentices) and to his right, the ever age-less Darryl Cotton (of the band Zoot).

"The real thing" one of my favourite songs of all time, so great to hear it live too, such electricity in the audience too. These guys joked and had a great time conversing with the crowd of about 200 to 300 people. It seemed such a personal performance.

The combined achievements of Darryl Cotton, Jim Keays and Russell Morris produced an astonishing 42 charting records, 10 of which are bona fide classics. They represent the cornerstone of 60's and 70's Australian music and cover a wide range of styles from early garage punk, psychedelia, power pop, rock and progressive rock through to modern adult orientated songs and beautiful ballads.
From their early beginnings in Zoot, Masters Apprentices and Hush, they have progressed and survived in the fickle music industry. They are awesome artists!

Classics to follow if you feel like having a mini concert and a bit of a dance :).......

DARRYL in 1980.

Absolutely CLASSIC Masters and Apprentices song "Turn up your radio"(1970) Jim Keayes' band.

Morris singing the classic Wings of an eagle".."absolutely flawless vocals!

The party..

Sarah's party was a hoot, she had the best time ever with her little friends. They played pass the parcel, followed by a fun game my friend's family play at parties. It involves the cutting of chocolate with a knife and fork (a butter knife of course) and a roll of dice to get to a number already pre agreed on by all the players. First you roll the dice, if you get the number agreed on, say it is four, you roll a four, You then have to donn a hat, scarf or jacket and begin cutting at the family sized block of chocolate, one block at a time. While you are cutting, everyone continues to take turns rolling the dice until number 4 is rolled. Then, the person cutting has to stop and the next person has to take the clothes, put them on and begin cutting...and so on. It was fun and was also fiercely competitive, of course we were all laughing the whole time. The girls were all winners really, they got lots of chocolate!

Next they got to destroy the piniata. It had rings, lollies, hair clips and more lollies in it... everyone had a go at bashing it with the wooden spoon. We all laughed lots!!

Her gifts were lovely. Sarah received clothes, toys and art and craft stuff. Not forgetting books too. We got her a Snugglepot and Cuddlepie book, vintage too.
We have all had fun helping Sarah paint and play today...time for a quiet night and an early tuck-up in bed methinks :)

Sarah's First Phone Call..

Tonight Sarah got her first ever phone call from her best friend "B". This weekend Sarah turns 7 and she gave out these wonderful home made invitations to 5 of her closest school friends. We began making her birthday piniata tonight. A three step process. The first layer of newspaper and glue(homemade glue) covers the balloon. Tomorrow night we will do another layer and on the third night we will paint and decorate the piniata..then on the day of her party, we will fill it with goodies like lollies and these little girls rings I bought to put in it. Sarah is crossing off each day on the calender, it is very exciting.
I want it to be a wonderful time for her, and I want her to just be a kid and have fun with ther friends... making memories to last a life time :)

My walls...

As part of wonderful Monday Meme's, thanks to Jan for hosting it, we have to speak about an provide an imae of our favourite walls..
This is my lounge room wall. To the left is a wonderful arrangement of leaves from my favourite desiduous tree in the yard, now that it is Winter I love looking at this because it reminds me that the now baron tree will soon Spring to life again:) It was a birthday gift for me last Summer.
The print to the right is of my favourite ever-ever-ever painting from when I was a little girl and my nan had it on her wall in her loungeroom. Titled "An Elegant Soiree" by Victor Gabriel Gilbert. He was a French artist who was born in 1847 and died in 1933. His marvellous technique of painting lives on...and in my loungeroom too!

And a good joke for y'all...

A drunk staggers into a Catholic Church, enters a confessional booth, sits down, but says nothing. The Priest coughs a few times to get his attention, but the drunk continues to sit there. Finally, the Priest pounds three times on the wall. The drunk mumbles, 'Ain't no use knockin, there's no paper on this side either.'
Haha!!!

FRIDAY THE 13TH...

You see, Friday the 13th myths are all turned around by the birth of my little Nephew "Z". He was born this morning at 9:20am. He is soooo cute, just like my kids were when they were born. Same nose, ears and mouth, very very Dutch :) I am a happy Auntie :)

Fun Monday on a Wednesday!

As part of Molly's Fun Monday I opted to share this image of me from when I was little. It was the 1970's. I was at my nan's house in an outer suburb of Melbourne. My favourite patent leather buckle up's adorn my feet. A hand knitted red jumper, my nanna Tess knitted it for me. I also had a red skirt knitted to match it. I loved wearing that outfit. I think my mum bought the dress I am wearing in the image from a party plan called Salamanda.
I look so much like my Sarah in this image. Behind me is my Uncle, wearing the 1970's jeans and stilleto boots of course!
I loved going to my Nan's place, we spent most of our days between both sets of grandparent's houses. At my Nanna Tess' place, we would have the most scrumptious Sunday lunches. If we stayed the night we would have a bath and when we got out, we would get dressed in front of the briquette heater in the loungeroom. One time, when I was about 4 years old, I went into my nan's room and looked at all the trinkets my nan had on her dressing table. There was this one special box and I just HAD to open it. What was inside it you may ask? A set of false teeth of course! Did I try to see how they would look? Of course!!! Curiosity killed the cat, not the kid right?? My Nan could not stop laughing or talking about it for years to come...I miss her so much!!
Thats my fun Monday on a Wednesday :)

Gorgeous Winter's Day at Werribee South Beach..

Today I took the kids to the beach to have a play and to get out in the fresh air. It was 18 degrees celcius for most of the day and the sun shone down just nice from an otherwise blue sky. There were plenty of boats going out from the boat ramp and reports are there were plenty of fish biting out there in the Bay.

There were lots of families at the park with their kids and Nick got to play soccer and rugby with people who were complete strangers to begin with. See what can happen when you venture out to the beach and the park..you make friends and you have fun! When we were kids we used to create our own fun. Well, today, my kids did that too. They rolled down the hills, built sandcastles and birthday cakes with shell candles on them.....all the fun things! Bondi even had a ball too, barking at all the seaguls :)

Looky, we even sighted a starfish!

Me in the middle.

That is me in the centre of the three little kids there, it was late 1970's and a Christmas Party down Werribee South for my dad's work I think. I do remember the occasion, my whole family was there. These were the days!

Fog is in the air..

All day long there was fog in our town. My friend and I went for our usual bike ride after having our soup for lunch. We met quite a few people on the riding track along the river. The ducks seemed not to worry about the wet air...I guess we should invest in a feather jacket for tomorrow's ride..then we might not be frozen up on our ride!
