Tomorrow is not just another day...

This is my Sarah out the front of her kindergarten last November, just prior to her graduation ceremony....

This is the moment I melted...when she came out of their locker room dressed in the Mortar and Cape get up to accept her Certificate of completion of Kindergarten. Just minus the rose colored sash that I had for my Health Sciences in Nursing Degree. It was a surprise, they had not hired these costumes before for the kids so we (the parents) were just stoked about it :)

Tomorrow, Sarah begins her first year of schooling in Grade Prep. We are all excited for her as she begins school at the same school I went to, right through to Grade 6. Her dad went there too for a year or two, until the local Catholic School was built, then he moved onto that one.
I hope she has as good a first day as I did at school. I remember lining up, behind me was a little girl named Julie, who is still one of my best friends to this day. We had to try to pick our names out of all these upturned name tags. I actually chose Julies name, and she chose mine...funny it was, and funny it still is.
All these years later, 31 years to be exact, look where we are now. I became the Nurse I wanted to be, and Julie became the Hairdresser she wanted to be. Even though we mucked about a bit during activities and got masking tape out on our gobs for talking too much in class (hehe, who would have guessed it eh?).
I also remember a time when we did an activity on taste buds. We had to blind fold our partner and then put a spoon of condiment on the other one's tongue. I kept on getting Julie to put more vinegar and more soy sauce on my tongue as I loved them....correction..still do love them.
Anyone remember fun activities in Grade School?

New Years Pics...

Beginning with this picture, if you put this and the next two side by side it is a panoramic view of what we could see whilst standing on the top of the hill on the banks of the Yarra River, just prior to the family fire works on NYE. This, my friends, is Melbourne :)
The gold glowing building is the Grand Hyatt Hotel where we stayed for our Wedding night, what a lovely place to stay I must add.

9:15pm family fire works.
MCG in lights on NYE, taken from the banks of the Yarra.

Our new Mazda 2 Genki, exactly the same as this one, just a different rego number..and of course...cooler...because I drive it :)

Australia Day Today...

Just uploaded this picture and it is now just after 7pm Australia Day. Our kids played the whole afternoon with their friend Lachlan as us adults sat there and BBQ'd and had drinks and some nibblies to eat. A very layed back fun day celebrated by us all. Yes, that picture is taken at the back of our yard at our new abode :) Will upload more pictures tomorrow, tracking back to NYE with the kids sliding down the banks of the Yarra...now that we are almost settled in here.

Moving right along....

It has been very hectic the past few days. I have cleaned out every cupboard in the place except for the kitchen. I have loaded the trailor with alot of stuff that I was not prepared to move with, hence, a Summer clean out has occured. All the boxes are labelled as to the room they are to go to and the cupboards or tall boy dressers they belong to.
I have put a fair bit of stuff on freecycle and it has all gone to needy homes, saving the landfill at the garbage tip.
My eye has begun to play up a bit less now, the doctor did say it would take 6 to 8 weeks, so I am hoping it is less than more times I experience that stabbing pain again, fingers crossed.
Next time I post I will be in the new abode..so stay tuned people. I will try to get pics up and running..I still have the NYE pics to download too here and show everyone.
Take care and ciao for now :)

How To Shower Like A Woman:

Take off clothes and place then in sectioned laundry basket according to lights and darks. Walk to bathroom wearing long dressing gown.
If you see husband along the way, cover up any exposed areas. Look at your womanly physique in the mirror - make mental note to do more sit-ups/leg-lifts etc.
Get in the shower. Use face cloth, arm cloth, leg cloth, long loofah, wide loofah and pumice stone. Wash your hair once with cucumber and sage shampoo with 43 added vitamins.
Wash your hair again to make sure it's clean.
Condition your hair with grapefruit mint conditioner enhanced.
Wash your face with crushed apricot facial scrub for 10 minutes until red.
Wash entire rest of body with ginger nut and jaffa cake body wash.
Rinse conditioner off hair.
Shave armpits and legs.
Turn off shower.
Squeegee off all wet surfaces in shower.

Get out of shower.
Dry with towel the size of a small country.

How to Shower Like A Man:
Take off clothes while sitting on the edge of the bed and leave them in a pile.
Walk naked to the bathroom.
If you see wife along the way, shake willy at her making the 'woo-woo' sound.
Look at your manly physique in the mirror.
Admire the size of your willy and scratch your bum.
Get in the shower. Wash your face. Wash your armpits.
Blow your nose in your hands and let the water rinse them off.
Fart and laugh at how loud it sounds in the shower.
Spend majority of time washing privates and surrounding area.
Wash your bum. Wash your hair. Make a Shampoo Mohawk. Wee.
Rinse off and get out of shower. Partially dry off.
Fail to notice water on floor because curtain was hanging out of bath the whole time.

Hey there, sorry I can't reply to all your lovely thoughtful comments on last post, but I amjust a tad sore in that darn right eye still.
The CT showed that I have an inflammation of part of the eye and part of the anatomy behind (posterior to ) the eye itself. Termed Uveitis, it can be treated with some anti inflammatories. These are medicines I do not cherish taking because of the associated complications they can cause your body, but, my sight is just not something I am going to bugger around with. Also, my sanity, I am a narky woman when the eye is so sore.
Anyhow, onwards and upwards. I looked over the new place we are moving to yesterday, new carpet and newly painted walls, we move as scheduled on the 24th this month. Half the rooms are packed, minus the clothes we need for the next few weeks. Now I will move onto the linen press and the kitchen today..although it is set to be a scorcher at almost 40 degrees celcius, so we shall see.
Rest is due and we are watching Babe and Zathura on DVD today. Oh, asd I took the kids to Scienceworks after I picked up my CT results, it was awesome, all about space and the NASA space shuttles and the like. The kids got to make a mini space capsule complete with silk parachute. They got to launch some rockets too, way cool :)

Today I spent 3 hours all up at the doctors, 2.5 of them just waiting to be seen, a new record has been set me thinks. Meanwhile, I have a ghastly pain in my right eye, and I have been seeing shapes that look like clovers swimming around in front of that eye too. Nah, not 4 leaf clovers..unfortunately :(
Began packing the house and Sarah and Mia's stuff is all packed, the countdown is on, 13 sleeps til Moving Day.

Moving House....

Yes, you read it here now, we are moving house. An unexpectedly wonderful phone call from an old (yet young in age) landlord has lead us to the move. He has bought a house that is closer to the school and the kindergarten and even takes me less time to travel to work. He loved us as tenants last time and wanted to offer us the place first. We went to investigate it and the place is lovely. An ex defence forces house. Bedrooms for the kids are double sized rooms, and we have a nice large yard.
Now, to the daunting apect of packing all the stuff we have here and shiping it out. YIKES!!! Luckily my other half has a truck licence and we have booked a truck with an hydraulic lift gate at the back. We will be in there by Australia Day, and in time for the kids to begin school.
We can either walk or ride tothe school/ kinder each day too...just gr8 :)

Whatever happened to TaB?

This was one of my favourtie treats when I was a kid, apart from red licorice that is. A nice cold drink of TaB. I researched what ever happened to it and it's demise rested with the appearance of Diet Coke on the market.
So then, what ever happened to the original taste of Sarsparilla then? Anyone's guess is better than mine.

Mum used to drink Blackberry nip, I wonder if that is still on the market? I think it was termed, "Two buck chuck" LOL. It was a refreshing drink mixed with lemonade though, and was my first sip of alcohol when I was 12 years old.
So, what was your first sip of alcohol? Did you like it? What other drinks can you think of that are no longer on the market?

Water Shortages....

I am buying one of these here padlocks to put on my fridge/freezer!!! Hollow legs call for this as the kids keep opening the doors and having a look see, wasting energy. I keep telling them, "You are letting all of the balloons out the door and window of the house, up into the sky". There is an ad on TV at the moment, it is about energy wasting and it depicts helium filled ballons ecscaping out the door and windows of the house. They are beginning to GET it.
In other news, it was 24 degrees celcius here in Melb at middnight last night, HOT you may say, yes it was.
I have one green patch of grass under my washing line, due to me using the washing water on it. It stops my clothes dropping into dirt and then needing another go in the washing machine. Wondering if they will bring back the old 80's ad's on TV, "Don't be a Wally with water!" I am not sure it was a successful campaign, but everyone got the phrase stuck inn their mind and if you saw a person watering their garden, or washing their path down with our liquid Gold, you would yell out the window, "Hey, Don't be a Wally with water!

We all received a leaflet in the mail with a magnet on the back so we can put it on our fridges to let us know about our water restrictions. Funny thing is, alot of people now have the trendy Stainless Steele Fridges that are NOT MAGNETIC!! I reckon it was a waste of many thousands of dollars. They, the government, should have sent one of these little babies pictured above. A water proof radio to hang in the shower. Set the alarm for 3 minutes, or listen to one song as you wash and out you get. Providijng the song is not the extended version of Bat Out Of Hell which goes forever, LOL.

Anyhoo, am about to go onto the neopet site with my boy Nicholas and have us a fun time :)

NYE......

NYE started off by taking the kids to see A Night at The Museum at the flicks. A must see movie for all ages, packed with laughs and quite a bit of history I must add. My other half went into Melbourne to work for an events agency of sorts and set up the riverside party from 12midday.
After a long day sleep I took 3 of my kids into town via train, free transport for all on NYE and some of NY day aswell. So, the train slowly filled to capacity at each station nearing the CBD. When we got off the train there were sooo many people everywhere. Connex employees were ushering the crowd in the right directions, keeping a steady flow going, well done to them. They let us out with the pram from a certain barrier.
We walked riverside down past Federation Square where the party had already begun, live bands, big plasma TV's and people setting up their spot for the 9:15pm family fireworks. Walking along another minute or so we got to Birrarung Marr where the Alcohol Free Zone was for families....no..not FREE ALCOHOL as some of the young adults were inquiring of my other half throughout the night, jovialy of course :) LOL
The kids and I met up with their dad, were taken into a compound guraded by security where they got to empty their bladders, have a soft drink or two and some BBQ. Hubby had to deliver a headset to someone at a live site down stream, so we followed. There were live bands from High Schools it seemed, having a battle of the bands. Kids with spikey hair and rings in all orifice, and perhaps other areas of their bodies, were in awe of this uncomprehensible music, LOL. OMG, do I sound old??? Hahahah.
When we left there we went back to the compound, got some cardboard and went back to the riverside where the kids were able to slide down, on the cardboard, a 5 story incline of a hill. What a blast!!! They were sooo tired. Then, at 9:15pm, the fireworks that went for about 7minutes light up the sky from barges on the river. Everyone loved it.
We then walked back together and got some hydration going, the kids had a play at a groovy park they have set up ther and we proceeded back to the station. This is where it got messy. We stood, in a line of prams for 30m ins to get into a lift to take us down to the platform. Then, a Connex lady came up to me and asked if I wanted to try another avenue to get to the station platform. At first, I was hesitant as I'd been in line for so long. But, as I thought we'd be waiting until next year to get into the lift, sigh, I took that option. Along with the lady in front of me and her 3 kids. So, we took the platform 10 lift down and then ushured along to our respective platforms. It pays to be wearing that Connex lanyard that keeps my mobile phone secured to my neck (wink).
We got the 10:35pm train, and got home just in time for midnight. Not before Sarah fell asleep on the train though. Our street went crazy with fireworks and poppers and everyone was yelling out happy new years.
In all, I would do it again next year with the kids in tow to the city, as I know the easiest way to the platform to get home. But, I am hoping we can all go away to Sydney in the bus to celebrate it there, and that my other half not work, nor I, on NYE, so we can see in the new year together. There is only one life time together, I want to make sure we spend as much of it together, especialy since I may well not have survived 2005 already!!!

My New Years resolution is not to make a resolution, LOL. But, I have to say, I reckon I might just resolve to have a Christmas tree like the one pictured, though, the bottles will need to have childproof lids on them :)
